If it's been going on for a while, you probably have early periodontitis. My dad had it for a while (he hates the dentist due to a scary episode when he was kid), but he cleared it all up. As long as you get your teeth cleaned twice a year and you floss regularly, you should be fine. But get to a dentist!

If your gums are bleeding then that is a sign of infection. Healthy gums do not bleed. You should see your dentist and they may evaluate the health status of your gums and give you advice on how to clean things up.

You need to start flossing and get to a dentist ASAP.
