They are putting you in your place. YOU are serving THEM !!!!! Or they have manners.
Mine know exactly where the food is and come running if they hear the can open or the dry food rattle but they wait at my feet while I dish the food out and . Then wait for me to put the food down and then I have to walk over to them ( they sit in the kitchen where I stand to serve the food) and get them to follow me to the food and show them their bowls and that it's fresh food and tell them they can eat.

Hmm... maybe your cat isnt feeling well. Perhaps you should check with a vet on this one, she might have a smelling problem and not be able to locate the bowl! good luck!

I've never had to do that, ever. If you moved the bowl, maybe that's the reason. Otherwise, I can't imagine why. Ask a vet.

Mine don't. all they have to do is hear you pick up there dishes and they come a running. I have hid my kittens bowls before just to see if they would find them, and they did, they even jumped into the bath tub to get to them. My kittens are weird.

I've had cats all my life and currently have 7. I've never in all my years had to lead a cat to their food/water dish. Maybe they just don't like what you're trying to give her/him.

they dont need to...they have a perfectly well developed sense of smell and can find it themselves...if they are not approaching it and not eating then they are either not hungry or could be the sign of a serious illness

If you moved it recently, they may need to be shown where it is a few times before they remember.

when people come to your house why do they ask where the bathroom is? because they don't know where it is and they need to know where it is to use it.
