Bleeding gums are the early stages of gingivitis which leads to perio disease. Your first step should be see a dentist and have a through cleaning and an examination. The doctor can lead you in the right direction to taking care of your teeth and correcting the bleeding problem if it hasn't gone too far. The next step is up to you to continue with consistant home care by brushing and (yes, I know everyone hates this part) flossing with the correct method and brush. Taking care of the problem now can stop you from having more serious problems later. I've never had a patient happy they had dentures, but every one of them always tells me that wished they had taken better care of their teeth. Don't you become one of them! Good luck and I hope I was of help.

Wrap an ice cube in a paper towel and hold it there, and once the bleeding has stopped, gargle with saltwater to help heal the wound. But garling will not stop the bleeding, only ice will do this. The reason I say to put it in a paper towel is so it is easier to hold.

If it's been going on for a while, you probably have early periodontitis. My dad had it for a while (he hates the dentist due to a scary episode when he was kid), but he cleared it all up. As long as you get your teeth cleaned twice a year and you floss regularly, you should be fine. But get to a dentist!

Brush, floss and use mouthwash more. Then see a dentist because you may have a serious problem if it doesn't stop.

You need to see the dentist as this is an early sign of gingivitis.

- floss daily
- brush after every meal and at bed time with a soft-bristled tooth brush
- rinse with hydrogen peroxide (and spit) instead of mouthwash
- see your dentist as soon as possible
