I don't understand why Bin Laden has killed close to 7000 Americans and allies and Bush has spent over 100 Billion dollars in response to Bin Laden's attack towards us since 9-11. If Bush wants more soldiers to kill the enemy it seems that we as Americans should be more interested in finding Bin Laden and not Iraq.

If we leave Iraq now we will just be turning our backs on the situation we them in. We cannot leave until the job is done. If we were to leave now that country would be over run by insurgents and would just continue to be a Hell hole.

You have skipped around a bit, let me try to answer from my perspective.

I know longer see the Iraq war as the war it was when it started. Hussein is dead, killed by the Shiite empowered sectarian government. This should have never happened the way it did, but it has happened and the Shiite still dominate the so called democratic government.

This war is now a war against Islamic jihad sponsored by and financed by Iran. Iran also sponsors other hostilities in the middle east. Hezbollah is financed by Iran, as is Hamas. It wouldn't surprise me that the Taliban get much of their support from Iran. All in all, this thing will continue until we recognize the real enemy and destroy that enemy. We could start by getting rid of Ahmadinejad through what ever means are available to us, plus we must destroy Iran's nuclear complex.

Osama bin Laden is probably already dead. It's been some time since he surfaced which is unlike him to lay low this long. To find bin laden would more than likely require invading parts of Pakistan. This area of the world is already as hostile as it could be, so any invasion by the US would be costly in terms of the number of troops necessary, plus the hostilities it would create.

yes, but..... by leaving Iraq right now we are asking for a lot more trouble to follow. We made a mess and we have to clean it up. If we left it this way, the insurgents would throw a coup, most likely kill off the new entire Iraqi govt. and we would have to re invade and start all over again. Just because Saddam is dead, doesn't mean anything. The Iraqi link of the Al Qaida is more powerful today then when we invaded. That is a threat that has to be nuetralized before we go anywhere.
The Iraqi govt. must start to take care of itself so we can come home.

There is a book called "America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It" by Mark Steyn. It is probably the most concise explanation of the current conflict and offers some very good advice for dealing with the problems.

The writer, Mark Steyn, is Canadian by birth, but lives in the United States. His viewpoint is broad enough for his book to be of interest to anyone concerned with the problem of aggressive radical Islam, and considering the gravity of the subject matter, it actually has some humor. It is well worth reading.

If you cannot locate a copy at your library, try Amazon.com.

I might point out that this is a fallacy in your logic. You assume that we cannot simultaneously finish what needs to be done in Iraq as well as look for Bin Laden (we are).

Don't forget that we fought the Japs and the Germans in differnt theaters and won both.

Did you even listen to his speach the other night??? He is sending more troops to be on look out. Yeah we are helping to re-build Baghdad but don't you think there are other reasons to send so many troops???? HELLO!!!! More troops means more eyes for look-out. We will have people "watching" the Iraqis every move they make. Instead of our troops being killed by roadside bombs, we will have people watching them set up the roadside bombs and will be able to disarm or avoid them. Sometimes you have to read between the lines here. Have a GREAT day!!

The country has to be able to sustain itself. The government, police, and military are not able to handle itself yet.

Several of the guys I know that go over there train Iraqi soldiers. It's a long process.
