to volunteer should be from the heart, not the feeling of have to or must do.

Should everyone is one thing, but will everyone is something completely different. If everyone did, then they just tend to appreciate whatever they have and realize that no matter how bad we might think things are...there is always someone with a situation worse than our own.
I also believe in the draft for the armed services (and not just for the Army) for the exact same idea that you present. If everyone spent some time (say 2 years) in the service of our country, we just might have a better respect for it and pay more attention to what happens to it.

absolutely. volunteering is one of the best ways to seek fulfillment in life. last summer, i went to new orleans to help rebuild the city, and the look on the faces of different people was so humbling. you may not realize it now, or someone may not come out and say it, but when you volunteer, you make a difference in the lives of those around you.

Yes, I have donated over two thousand hours to various organization that I believed in and their cause. It has help me to have deeper awareness of what people go through that maybe I took for granted.
The rewards that you get money can not buy, it is a priceless gift to have the opportunity to give of yourself to help another human being.
You are never too young or too old to help someone else.

Yes, the experience can truly show you how much you have, whether monetarily or mentally. I have gained so much in my life through helping the less fortunate, after all, they are people too.

Yes, I believe that everyone should try at least once to help someone who is worse off than they are.

Should they, sure. But if they don't do it of their own free will, it's not "volunteering" is it?
