The only thing I feel is 'wrong' is that they don't work. It's ridiculous to think that anyone can pick up a board game made by Parker Brothers and think spirits are going to zoom over to it. Something 'weird' or 'scary' always happens because we freak ourselves out or someone is cheating (even slightly) by pushing the planchette around. I think it runs on nervous energy or by hoax, if anything.

If there was someone capable of contacting spirits, maybe then a Ouija Board would work for them but I doubt it would be the only thing that would work for them. They wouldn't even need one. I don't believe that any Joe Schmo can can contact spirits with a board. It's hard to believe that suddenly half the world was contacted by a spirit (good or evil) just because they sat down with a frigging piece of cardboard. Maybe, if anything, a homemade board might have a better chance of working but I still think it's pointless.

As for 'real' negative reasons not to use it, if you even half believe it works and it give you an 'answer' that bothers you, all it does is give you a little anxiety or scare or depress you for no reason. When I was 8 years old, one told me that I was going to marry Chinese twins. I never forgot that and it's an annoying memory because I don't want to marry Chinese twins. Whatever, it's just a game that people take too seriously.

I have NEVER used one......

Here is some information on them though....

What Makes It Work?

The Bible, however, sheds light on what makes the mysterious Ouija board work. How so?

As a way of probing into the unknown, the Ouija board is a form of divination. The Bible, at 1 Samuel 15:23, places divination parallel with the use of “uncanny power.” Many who use the Ouija board attest to acquiring “psychic” ability, a truly uncanny, mysterious power that enables them to know things about other persons and events without using normal means of communication. What could be behind that power?

The Bible book of Acts of the Apostles pinpoints the source of a certain servant girl’s ability to predict the future as being “a spirit, a demon of divination.” When the apostle Paul ordered the spirit to “come out of her,” she lost her power of prediction. (Acts 16:16-19) Could the Ouija board, too, involve wicked spirits, or demons? Consider some effects of its use.

“Some researchers warn,” observes Russell Chandler, “that the game can lure the susceptible into the weird world of spirit communication—even demonic possession.” Harold Sherman, president of the ESP Research Associates Foundation in Little Rock, Arkansas, observes: “The majority who have become involved with possessive and other spirit entities came by this experience through the Ouija board.”

Some object that most people do not have such unusual experiences with the Ouija board. But should that make any difference? Should you explore something that both the Bible and real-life experiences show can be related to “wicked spirit forces”? (Eph. 6:12) Surely the Scriptures are reasonable when asking: “Can a man rake together fire into his bosom and yet his very garments not be burned?”—Prov. 6:27.

Many indeed have been “burned,” adversely affected, by experimenting with the Ouija board or in other ways trying to develop psychic powers. Says Dr. Harmon H. Bro, social scientist and specialist in psychology: “Psychic development is like playing psychological Russian roulette—like being hypnotized by a stranger of unknown training and intent.”

The connection of the Ouija board with divination, spiritism and “uncanny power,” all of which God disapproves, along with the frightening experiences that many have had, makes it plain that experimenting with the Ouija board could have only a detrimental effect on you.—Deut. 18:10-12.

The basic premise of a Ouija board is that one can contact spirits of some kind to answer your questions and tell you what you should do in your life. We know from scripture that God has given us His complete Word and "everything we need" (can't remember the exact verse this comes from) for truth and godliness. Anything and everything we need to direct our lives is given to us in His inspired scripture.

We also see in scripture it is sinful to be involved in sorcery, witchcraft, or astrology. So there ya go. That's why I believe one should not use a Ouija board. For the same reason, I believe it wrong to attempt to contact spirits, direct one's life by astrology, attempt to use spells in witchcraft, etc. etc.

OK. Had a chance to find some of the scriptures so here they are.

2 Peter 1:3

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
NIV

Deut 18:10-12

10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery , interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,

11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord
NIV

If you know what you are doing, you would not need an Ouija Board. If you don't know what you are doing, you don't know what you are opening youself up to - there are several possibilities at any given time.

There is an inherent danger to them. But so too fire. An inherent danger does not make them evil.

It's just a gimmick to communicate with the subconscious; but the people who are inclined to believe in demons, devils, gods, spirits etc tend to see the supernatural everywhere.

Its a divination tool. From the christian standpoint it is forbidden by God to practice any sort of magic or divination.

Leviticus 19:26
'You shall not eat anything with the blood, nor practice divination or soothsaying.

1 Samuel 15:23
"For rebellion is as the sin of divination,And insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has also rejected you from being king."

In acts it is implied that the power of divination comes from spirits:

Acts 16:16-29

16It happened that as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave-girl having a spirit of divination met us, who was bringing her masters much profit by fortune-telling.

17Following after Paul and us, she kept crying out, saying, "These men are bond-servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation."

18She continued doing this for many days. But Paul was greatly annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!" And it came out at that very moment.

19But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas anddragged them into the market place before the authorities,

As to his reason, I think it places the trust in human means rather than God for answers... Plus, apparently divination comes from spirits other than God so that could be another reason why it is forbidden to practice it. Though, in the new testament it wasn't strictly forbidden but neither was it encouraged probably because the power came from sources other than God.

In fact, many who converted gave up magic:

Acts 19:19
And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

It's my best theory anyways.

Oh please! There's nothing wrong with using a Ouija board. It's just for fun. Spirits don't move the thing, your nerves do.

Parker Bros have nothing to do with contacting spirits, lol......
