"Deer" or "deer-faced" are terms that are sometimes used to describe Chihuahuas that do not have the breed-standard apple-domed appearance. These Chihuahuas often have longer noses and longer body parts in general. These terms are also unofficial. Some deer-faced Chihuahua's have a face shape similar to that of a Doberman Pinscher. The classic example of the "deer-head" chihuahua is the Taco Bell dog

A lot of people get offended, because people profit from animals that live in a box making this 'special' puppies all their life.
Now a Chihuahua is a breed and all those 'kinds' are just adjectives people made up to describe how those 'kinds' of chihuahua looked.
I don't think people have to get all mad at you for asking, its all right how else will you know? Yes this "deerhead" have a longer face and not that so much of that apple shape head.
I have a Chihuahua and he is the cutest! He is tan. I have him all the time and I didn't know why he looked a bit different, and I thought it was b/c he was a puppy, but then I found all this tags and I saw the reason. He's like any other Chihuahua out there, just different facial features, and same cuteness all over. So bottom line if you get a Chihuahua (any) and you take him to the vet and they ask you what race/breed, simply say Chihuahua.
I have a photo him in the source.

A deerhead chihuahua has a longer face and it also is a longer chihuahua then an applehead. An applehead has a rounder, smaller head and is a smaller dog.

Hi Kendra!!
They are small skinny (not fat at all) and have a head shapped in what looks like a deers head with long legs. I think because of the long legs it resembles a deer. I have seen a few. They do come in both long and short coats.
Since these types did not resemble a true chihuahua, and many began to think they were a mix, breeders tagged it with a 'deer headed' title. Though in the end, while still a 'purebred' in its own right, it is simply a poorly bred one.
I have never seen a big one, just small ones around 4-6lbs full grown. They are just poor bred chihuahua's. They are cute.

Silly Alexas there is not such thing as a mini Chihuahua it is just a smaller dog that BYB's charge tons of money for. Because it is so small it generally has health problems.
