Yep she is a murderer of birds, but only in our minds. I hate it when I see my cats bringing home a trophy....field mouse, mole, chipmunk, rabbit(as big as them),bird(though very seldom) and even a few weasals. I hate it when they play with them, I always try to save the poor thing, but that's what cats do....it's all instinct though our one cat had no interest until this past year when we had lots of chipmunks around. In a way it is no different than hunters going out for that big buck or whatever they hunt. Cats love to play and chase things and of course for them once the animal is dead.....play time is over. If she is catches birds often she is a quick little kitty. I think my cats gave up on birds since the barn swallows dive bomb the cats (within an inch or so), and they are actually afraid of them which is funny to watch. The birds will sit on the wires waiting for the cats and then swoop down at them. Try putting a safety collar with a bell so maybe the birds will hear her coming. I bought a DVD for cats with birds and two of the five cats love it-they try to catch the birds on the tv. Your kitty has the hunting gene and that isn't going to go away so get some fun toys for her to get some of the urge to hunt lessen. Good luck!!!!

Cats are predators. That's what they would do in nature to feed. They always play with the prey, it's their instinct. They also drag the prey in to show off to their owner what good hunters they are, cats are so proud in that! In fact, in her view she is doing you proud, letting you witness the final kill. She must be very puzzled when you freak out!
By killing small wildlife they just do what nature intended them to do. Of course nature didn't take into account the pollution and pesticide use in farms that is killing our bird population, so now if cats kill birds is kind of not allright anymore.
But cats can't help being themselves, your cat's behaviour is totally normal for a young, healthy small predator. You either keep her indoors only, or put an elasticated collar with a bell on it, so that the birds will hear her approaching and run off. It MUST be elasticated or else you cat risks getting caught on a tree branch and hang herself.

Your kitty is trying to please you. If she is bringing the animal to you in the house. It is natural for cats to catch and kill small animals. Some cats do some do not. The only thing you can do is put a collar with a bell on it to warn the birds that the cat is near. But make sure the collar is loose enough to slip off the head in case she gets it caught on something.

Your cat is NOT a murderer. She is a cat!! It is normal for cats to hunt food, play with it (not sure why they play with it but they do) and then kill them. Sometimes the cat eats the food, sometimes the cat leaves it. Her age has nothing to do with the instinct she was born with. The fact that she's doing this means you have a good cat!
If you don't want her to do this, then make her an indoor cat. Still, I would be comforted knowing that if a mouse got into my home that she'd be able to catch it. Yours obviously will!!

It's a cat thing. Cats are carnivores mostly, they eat meat. In the wild, they kill small birds and rodents. That is their food, it is how they survive.
It is in their nature, it is instinct for a cat to kill. If you don't like her killing things, don't let her outside. Give her toys like toy mice, and those feathers on a stick that dangle so that she can still play and all, but without causing harm.

Unfortunately, that is what cat's do. So before you bring her up before Judge Judy and ask that she be electrocuted....you might want to put her under "house arrest" and make her an indoor cat.
The big plus to that is no mouse would want to come into your house!

OMG Maggie --- she is giving you absolute ultimate LOVE. Sweetie, it might be gross, but she is bringing YOU her catch -- AKA - food. She is showing off to you "see what a good provider I am?? I love you!!". Try to just keep them out of the house - let her do her job outside then praise her!! When she is NOT looking, you can clean up the mess. If you clean it up in front of her, she will loose a lot of affection towards you.

htis is normal for a cat even a kitten she would make a great mouser if you want her to stop though keep her inside and play with her with play mice and other cat toys if you are letting outside she will be a hunter and do what comes naturally.

You have an exceptional cat. She catches them and brings them home to you because seh loves you. Sounds funny I know but that is her job, bringing home the kill.

I know its sick and twisted for me to say this but I used to love it when my cat would bring birds, mice, and baby rabbits. I know that she was bringing them for ME...because she loves me:) Just beware on early saturday morning, walking out barefoot to get the mail on the porch and **SPLAT** I've stepped out to find many dead things under my foot.
