Im buying a small dog. A chihuahua to be exact. What's a good price for it? I don't wanna get ripped off.

Depends on where you live and where you are getting the dog from. If you're considering buying from a pet store, don't! You will be ripped off either now (with price) or later (with health problems.) Pet stores often get their pups from puppy mills and sell these low quality pups for high prices.

I would NEVER pay less then 1000 for a pure bred dog because breeders who charge more generally do health tests, show, and breed for quality. You want to get your dog from a quality breeder or else it could have major health issues that are even more of a rip off. High end breeders have a health guarantee. look on the AKC website for good breeders. If you cant pay this much then a pure bred dog is not for you. Any thing below that you run into back yard breeders. Get one from a shelter if this is not for you.

Ask the breeder exactly how they came up with the cost. They should be able to show you all vet bills for each pup, including the mom, they should be able to show you proof of champion bloodlines for generations back, and the parents should both have had temperament tests and health tests among other things. There should be a good basis for the price, not just a number they pulled out of their a**.

where I'm from $500 is the maximum but other places I've been like in florida they go for as much as $1500-2000 so it depends on where you are.

depends on if you want papers with it or not . if papers around 500 . if not then you should not pay more than 350 for m or 400 for f. I hope I helped you . good luck .
