Does anyone have a boxer with acid reflux? I suspect mine has and am looking for ways that will help keep her from throwing up. She's been to the vet and passed her health exams and she is current on all shots. She appetite and behavior is normal. The vomit is not enough to dehydrate her or anything like that. She can always eat afterwards. I just don't want her esophagous damaged later on. Has anyone experienced anything similar with their own dog?

Yes. Our Boxer has had similar problems-here is what I've found out by doing research, talking to our vet, and experience...

Talk to your vet about giving your Boxer some over-the-counter medication to help with the vomiting. We use Pepcid AC.

You might also want to watch and see if maybe she is eating something that could be making her ill (they can be very sneaky :) ). Avoid any table food and/or high fat foods.

Try giving her a small amount of food before bed. (Sometimes our dog gets sick if she goes more than 8-9 hours between meals).

Hope she feels better soon!

My mother in law has a boxer that throws up. He has been to the vet and the same as your dog, appetite and behavior is fine, etc. What the vet believes is that he has anxieties. He generally throws up after he gets over excited. After he eats, we can't get him all worked up or he will puke.

Animals have anxieties like people. Some people are more sensitive in this aspect as well. Your dog could have anxieties or something else.

My boxer has the exact same problem. I keep her on the same food and always make sure she doesn't drink too much water all at one time. She has a habit of drinking the entire bowl, even if she has drank an entire bowl of water two minutes ago. I also try to make sure she eats at the same time everyday, and no other foods than hers. I sure with there was something more I could do for her but I am sure you know with boxers they have incredibly sensitive stomachs. Gotta love them though.

Most of the time with Boxers you have to monitor their eating closely. Boxers will eat so fast that sometimes they will upset their stomachs, not process their food correctly, or suck too much air into their stomachs. All of these will make them throw up. I would ask your vet for some suggestions for feeding.
