I would like to know (from someone who has taken it) how much more info there is to know from the second test. All 2nd growths? All crus of Chablis? Cote du nuit? What exactly?

The second level test is excruciatingly difficult. You have to blind taste wines and determine what wine it is, where it comes from and the vintage. There’s a 25 percent pass rate for the second level and for the masters, it’s three percent.

The second level is much more difficult and you need a lot of preparation. If the first level was hard for you, then you know you will need at least double the studying for the second level. There is actually a 60% pass rate for level 2, if you are good on the floor of a restaurant then you will pass the service portion. If you can distinguish between the classic varietals of wine then you will pass the blind tasting. The theory is very intensive and there are only 40 questions compared to 100 in level one so you have more of a chance to fail that. As long as you focus on the regions of France, ITaly and Spain then you should pass because most of the test is based on those.
