The business I work for has had three different owners in 2006, two of them being for only one month each (one for all of January 2006 and one for all of February 2006) Should I expect a different W2 from each owner or previous owner of the business?

The business name stayed the same, nothing about it changed except the owner. It is a small clothing boutique.

Each owner was a seperate entity and as such had their own Federal Employer Identification Number or; EIN. Each employer should fill out and give you a W-2 for what your earned working for them. If you don't get a W-2 then you have to use your pay stubs or whatever records you have to create a substitute W-2 form that you can use to fill out your return. Then the IRS goes after the person who failed to fill one out and corrects their thinking process.

Depends.

When the businesses changed owners did the new owner changed the name of the company? The company is responsible for the issuance of the W-2. You will get the W-2 from each company you worked for, regardless of ownership.

If the owners changed, but had no effect on the true name of the company, then you should only get one W-2.
Good Luck.

Chances are you'll end up with three different W-2's. When a business switches owners, each one usually gets a new Employer Identification Number.

No, it should be the same, assuming the company name remained the same.

Usually, if the company is bought and sold, everything would remain the same, unless it was merged with another company.

If its a corporation, than I dont think it really matters, since you got paid from the corporation, if they paid you out of their pocket then you will probably have to get from all three.......... good luck
