When I awoke this morning I heard my cat whining. I went outside to check and she has a reddish eye a some tears and she wont open it. I am trying to cure her, but can anyone please give me ideas as to what might have happened to her eye and what to put in it?

The last time I took a pet to the vet, he killed it. He gave it some kind of shot to make it better and when we got home, the pet died. So yea, i really dont like the guy. And there arent many options here for cats.

DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN HER EYE. Take her to the vet. She could have gotten in a cat fight and gotten scratched or she could have gotten an infection in it. The vet should do an eye stain to see if the eye itself is scratched. That will determine the medicine to put on it. WHATEVER YOU DO if it is scratched DO NOT put a steroid on the eye. I know in humans it helps heal the eye but in animals it makes the scratches worse. We had a cat come to our clinic that had been seen by another vet in town who didnt do an eye stain and prescribed steroid ointment for the eye. The cats eye was so bad after they brought it to us we had to surgically remove his eye. So dont put any type of steroid on its eye. Even if you dont know what is in the medicines you should ask the vet if it has steroids in it just to make sure. Good luck

Don't put anything in her eye except water --- take her to a VET!

CONTINUED --- well, sorry we are not 'being much help', but good God, we are not psychic and she needs medical attention. We cannot SEE what you do and therefore we cannot give you specific medications to use. You say you are studying to become a Vet? God help the animals around you!! And thank God you are in Mexico - at least my pets will be safe away from you. Stop criticizing the people who are trying to give you advice! If we didn't care about your little kitty, we would not be answering you at all!!

TAKE HER TO THE VET!! Do not try home remedies, that is horrible and highly irresponsible.

It could lead to an infection that can leave her blind if you do not take her to a professional.

She may have something in it, gotten scratched, poked and did damage to her eye.

Call the vet immediately, until then take an eye dropper and fill it will sterile cold water and rinse the eye. But you still need to take her to the vet...please.

Take her to the vet immediately.

It could be an eye infection, an allergy, or she could have gotten poked or attacked.

If the iris of her eye looks brown, like it's filled with blood, she probably has glaucoma. That was the first sign my cat displayed of the condition.

EDIT: Okay, if you're unable to take her to the vet, and you think there is foreign matter in her eye, use contact lens rewetting drops--NOT contact cleansing or storage solution. That is what our vet had us use on our other cat when his eye was inflamed.

wipe it off with a none smell baby wipe, then put some neosperan around the eye..she could have a cold in her eye or got into a cat fight..i would then take her to the vet for a check up to make sure things are going good..keep an eye on it..

You should really take her to a vet for something like this. Especially when you dont know what has happened to her or what has caused this. Good Luck!

You need to take her to the vets.
Saline solution to clean its eye.
Could have been fighting, but may have an infection, she could loose her eye if left untreated.
See a vet for peace of mind and mine !

Take her to the veterinarian! She could have a foreign object in her eye, a scratch, or any number of things. Don't try to force it open....if you don't know what's wrong, then you shouldn't try to mess with it. Just get her to the vet ASAP.
