This is an honest question and I'd really like some honest answers. I'm not a war supporter, but I am in favor of a balanced budget. In years passed, when our nation has taken on extended military committments, taxes have always increased to offset that cost.

How about with the current deployment...are you will to pay more to bring our books back into balance?

If not, why not?

We don't have to. That's Bush's genius. Just keep the war off budget and roll the cost into the Social Security funding problem. It's just like free money. Bush and his buddies don't need Social Security.

I still support the idea of using the Iraq oil to offset the war price. That was what was 1st on the table to help pay for it. Bush thought that it would "look bad" & like we were in it only for the oil the whole time. But, they get "liberated" for free, & get to profit from the oil that they will soon sell. We pay with our lives, & taxes. There was nothing gained in it for us. Now, I am not saying we should turn a profit, but at least offset some of it.

Yes, I would and I think that Bush should have done just that - raised taxes to support the war.

Hmm...

Do I pay in taxes at the gas pump...

Or do I pay them in a politically correct effort to spread democracy and capitalism...

...Tough one
