She is in her mid twenties and claims she is single. She gave me her number after chatting online for a while but I called a couple days ago and it went to an answering machine with some old (40-50) guys voice on the greeting.

What gives??

Could be that she is not in her 20s and not single. But if this was the case why would she give you her number? So this is out.

You havn't been chatting long enough to at least get her living situation and it has gotten to the point where she would give you a real number and give you a heads up? That she is living with her parents or other relatives?

Something is wrong here. Call the number and leave a message because it could be miscomunication. The number could be wrong or she just might have just really not be ready to talk offline. Could be you have been talking to a guy though.

I would still have left a message. Some women use men's voices on their email messages for security purposes. You don't know what's going on until you reach her and ask her about it. Until then, just take it at face value that you dialed the correct number (if indeed you did). You can't know anything until you ask her about it. Good luck.

Does she still live at home?? Was it an automatic recording??

If not, it's probably just some number she thought of off the top of her head.

Myself I give my local prayer line number.... (I know it's mean but I only do it to majorly concided people)

perhaps it is the generic one that comes with the machine? or perhaps she likes the feel of security. when people call they will not assume she is a single female living alone.
