If your looking for something cheap, use sugar. Plain granulated sugar that you buy in a 5 lbs bag from the supermarket. I use it once a week as a scrub. I just mix about 2 cups (for my whole body) with a little warm water and rub it all over my skin. It makes My entire body incredibly soft and smooth, and doesn't leave any weird little seed particles on the bottom of the shower.

This is hands down the best body scrub I've found: http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2222390&cp=2484525.2079003.2128725&parentPage=family

It's the lemon sugar body scrub by C.O. Bigelow. You can find it at Bath and Body Works. It's about $20, it smells wonderfulll (but not too strong of a scent), and it leaves your skin so soft and healthy.

I tried it and got hooked on other C.O. Bigelow products. :)
