I'm a recovering drug and alcohol addict. I recently lost my job and thought I had bombed on an interview... I relapsed and did a few lines of cocaine over the course of 2 days... I flushed the rest of the coke down the toilet after then and am determined to get and stay clean again.

I got a surprising call on Monday- the place who's interview I thought I had bombed called me in for a 2nd interview. When I got there, they offered me a job and sent me for a urine test, which I wasn't expecting.

I had used 6 days before the test, but hadn't flushed my system as well as I would have if I knew there would be a urine screening...

Am I SOL, or is there at least a 50/50 shot that I could pass it?

before last week, i hadn't used in 2 years, so i'm not a 'frequent' user if that makes much of a difference.

You should be okay as long as there is around 3days between your relapse and the test it is the same for heroin. Its wouldn't make a lot of differance if you had used more frequently. That is how long a urine test can detect it,and that's what we are talking about.
If it was a blood screen you would be gone!
Just hope you have learnt your lesson. after coming so far ,then to bomb out over something you thought might happen!Duh!
Seriously Good Luck with the job.I am pretty sure unless you body is abnormally slow at processing or you've not been drinking over 1lt of fluid a day it will be okay.
Increase you water intake no less than 2litres a day is recommended to stay healthy. eat a good balanced diet and stay on top of things.
When you go back to work after recovery you can find it mentally and physically stressful till it becomes the norm. if the S**t ever hits the fan, don't resort to old habits whatever. As you know they increase the problems, never solve them

Don't listen to any "solve it " recipes, they don't work!

Well if they don't call you back it does not matter. But maybe you should consider the following.

If alcohol or drugs cause a problem in your life, you have a drug problem. (right now coke is causing you mental distress, so I would say it is causing you a problem). You state that you are not a frequent user if that matters. That is called denial, but you started out well when you said "I am a recovering drug and alcohol addict" Stay out of denial my friend you will do better.

I was severely addicted to cigarettes (a drug which is legal but should be illegal) I know if I have just one smoke I will start again, so I do not have the first one, 9 years now still have cravings sometimes.

And yes I am a recovering Alcoholic/Chronic user with 17 years clean.

Even if you get the job this was a good wake up call, they may do random drug testing as well.

Go to a AA or NA meeting.

Peace and good luck.

I am not exactly positive, but I think cocaine stays in the urine for a week and in the blood for a month, same as a marijuana joint.
Its good you flushed the rest down the toilet, good for you. you dont need to mess up your life.
Listen, no matter what happens with THIS particular job, Dont pick-up again. if you bombed the drug test, stay clean, there will be other job interviews and most jobs DO require drug screening tests now-a-days.
Congradulations on being in recovery. so you slipped, its not the end of the world, just put it behind you, and focus on staying clean one day at a time again. you can do it,. you said you did it for two years, you can succeed again.
Good Luck.

Everyones biology is different so there is no way to guess on that one . . .
For all our sakes, I hope you are serious about staying off because all the users (including alkies and meth freaks and others) are a GIANT pain . . .
We will pray that you pass the test and get to start getting the paycheck.
Best of luck

ps: if that one fails, at least you know you have good interview skills and can successfully apply for other jobs.

Actually, I think you are okay. I am a recovered meth user (no one even guesses that about me) and I had a urine test for a job about four days after I had used and passed it with flying colors. I have been clean ever since and am now finishing my AA in criminal justice (yay, I can be a rent-a-cop)

You'll be happy to know that drinking a simple concoction of equal parts milk, white vinegar and flaxseed oil will automatically negate any traces of the booger sugar in your system.

So toot away all you like, and best of luck in your new career!
