I think it's awesome for you to babysit! After all, it's not like guys don't end up as parents eventually...why shouldn't you enjoy working with kids, and want to get better at it?
Here's a link to a site that offers an online course. I haven't taken the course, so I can't comment on how good it might be.
Good luck!

I think it's great that you want to take a babysitting class. I don't recommend taking a course on-line because part of the classroom training includes a hands on instruction in both CPR and choking emergencies. Upon completion of the class you will actually get a certificate and card that states what you have been trained to do. I can't remember if the class I took so many years ago was with the local Girls and Boys Club, or the Red Cross. I would check with both and also your local chamber of commerce. Just about every town also offers a disaster preparedness class as well, with the help of local law enforcement, the fire dept., and Red Cross. You will learn alot and may one day save a life, good luck.

I think you should examine one very real and dangerous aspect of males as baby sitters - even if you don't want to hear it - you could end up in serious trouble..., so allow me to explain.
I am going to assume that you are straight and that you are not a pedophile (no prejudgments on my part).
Given the growing almost pandemic of pedophilia - lets say you take a baby sitter job. A child turns up molested. It could be an uncle, and aunt or a total stranger that does it, but guess who the number one suspect would be... and if a child is threatened to blame you or else.., guess what the child will do.
No one could pay me enough money to babysit someone elses children for that reason. A male baby sitter is just to easy to blame. I do not feel that male baby sitters are abnormal or any of that bull - but I do feel its just not worth the hassle.
If you still insist on pursuing baby sitting, you should be bonded, attend any classes that strengthen you reliability in fighting against pedophiles and proper behavior for kids. For both credibility and for the parent's peace of mind. And for goodness sake - don't get involved with friends who are always in trouble - stay out of trouble yourself.

Babysitting courses also teach CPR and you cant learn that online. Check with a local community college about a course. They are not too expensive.

Taking a CPR class in your community also looks good on a resume. Its always good to know how to do CPR just in case. In fact that's how I got my job, when I told them I was certified in CPR and First Aid along with alot of chdv classes and babysitting experience. I think its fantastic that you want to babysit. Why not? you'll be a dad some day. Just have patiences with them, time outs work and stay calm.

you know what? go to your local YMCA usually it only costs about 10 $ and you get more hands on than an online course. good luck and don't listen to what anyone says about a boy babysitting. you'll just have more experience for your kids to be when you have them! good luck

I think that is great. Where are you located? Around my area, our hospitals offer "FREE" babysitting classes. So do the community health clinics. There is nothing wrong with boy babysitters!!

I'd either check with the YMCA or Red Cross. They usually offer cheap, helpful classes.
