Help!!! I desperately need to change my diet. My mother did not know how to cook and fruits and veggies could not be found anywhere in my house growing up. My Grandmother force fed me these things and I can not repress the gag reflex when I try to eat fruits and veggies. I am 27 and th most I can eat is corn, green beans, peas, and potatoes. Not very healthy. Please no jokes. This is serious. My health is at risk here, but I just can't eat right cuz I hurl if I try!!!!!!

It sounds like you are single and busy so I won't waste you time with scolding for your diet or by recommending some totally unrealistic raw food eating plan. Pick up some veggies from the frozen food isle, they make some that have cheese and pasta in them and they are really easy make. Its like seven minutes in the micro.
When you are on the move, avoid fast food and try to find food that is just fast. I have found that I can get in and out of a market with a juice, a deli sandwich, a potato salad, and a banana in about 10 minutes. It is a few minutes more than the drive thru. But. Your health is worth it.
Have less junk food available to you and always eat the good stuff first. This part just takes self discipline.
Good Luck.

I don't know what the psychological implications are, if any, from your grandmother forcing you to eat fruits and vegetables. We were forced to eat them too and I hated them for years. All I can suggest is that you sample fruits and vegetables that you weren't forced to eat. It seems unlikely that you would gag from all known produce. Have you tried Clementines? How about artichoke dip or fried eggplant? There's so many to try, I doubt your grandmother could have forced all of them on you.

My husband never liked veggies or fruits except for the usual that you mentioned. Corn, green beans, peas, and potatoes. Recently, we've decided to improve our diet so I've been looking up how to cook vegetables that I see in the grocery store but have never tried before. We're actually having a lot of fun with it.

If you can just make one or two small changes in your diet it'll get easier to make bigger changes after a while. You may even learn to like the vegetables and fruits that you hate now. In any case, at least your eating the corn, beans, peas, and potatoes. Nothing wrong with that.

Sounds like this is more mental than a physical thing. Being forced to eat or do something you dislike so immensly, will leave a mental block and fear towards that particular food. Try accepting the fact that if you do not eat healthy, you are gonna suffer mentally and physically. Try eating green vegetables you enjoy and are good for you

Try weight watchers. Go to a meeting. They tell you a lot about nutrition and healthy eating.
