I'm pretty sure it's a slang term.
My definition will be "to be attacked/struck quickly and unexpectedly, typically from the rear, and usually by a large number of people"
Usually the bumrushers are disorganized in their attacks.

ex. The infantry bum-rushed the tank, but to no avail, for the tank was made of metal.
