I have had over £1300 in fines, most are parking tickets for parking outside my own flat, which are unavoidable since I dont own a helicopter and dont have a heli-pad. Other fines include selling a car that was in the end (after5 months) without tax, fault of the new owner!! I am staggered at my punishment for simply going about my daily business, which in no way has harmed any body else, my crime is simply "That is the law" I think that the government would be screwed if people stopped commiting these "crimes" and would up the rate of income tax to compensate, "crime pays for the government"!!!!!!! Where does this fine money go???

It is all passed on to the Treasury. It goes to the same place as our taxes do and among other things it helps pay the expenses of having you brought to justice again. Running a courts system is an amazingly expensive thing and it's just as well that there are plenty of people paying fines to relieve the burden on the normal taxpayer. The other thing which relieves the burden is having lay magistrates, who actually give their time for nothing. What other justice system has such a cost cutting benefit?

I am not sure about the UK, but in Texas, the parking ticket fines go to the city. The city will put the money into the general fund and is used for the city to pay for things.

I expect that the money goes into the bottomless money pit of the Government coffers - they just take take take - taxes for this, penalties for that - whilst all our services seem to be going to the dogs. A NHS system that doesn't work half the time, dangerous prisoners walking out of "prision" on a regular basis, murderers and rapist that shouldn't be here walking free on the streets - and on it goes. I suspect the money goes on Blairs holidays and dodgy property purchases - what a laugh they are having.

I don't know about the UK but in America it can go to many places. First would probably be the police department in the municipal that keeps fining you. Then to fund the courts, prisons, parks, and various city paid events, my town actually uses a part of the money to assist underpriveleged families.
