I don't think that things are going to have changed all that much in 50 years. We will certainly have better sound systems; more reliable and eco-friendly transportation keeping the planet's health pretty much unchanged; and I think as far as terrorism is concerned, we'll still be in the same struggle we are in now between being safe and feeling free.
What I mean to say is, although technology is going to be improved, I don't think anything will be invented that is going to change our lives drastically within a 50 year time frame. The internet, for example has changed our lives more than anything else has since television or the car. Even so, has it really changed our lives THAT much?
People in 50 years will be asking this same question and probably getting the same answer. Life, with the exception of certain natural disasters (an asteroid hitting the Earth, or and ice age for ex.) doesn't generally change that fast. And if you look at statistics, if global warming ever will be a threat on its own, it will take much longer than 50 years for the general public to notice.

In 50 years, I do not think much will change on the planet, except maybe winters will be even more lighter than they are now in Michigan. Maybe a few more natural disasters. If I think back to the prior 50 yrs and the changes in the planet, life and nature, I see that more animals are now on the endangered list, that there are probably less smokers now, and there is more crime and prisons now. I think all of these will continue on the same route, but not drastically.

Unless we drastically change the way you treat each other and the planet you will not survive.
I say you because I will have been dead for more that 20 years by that time.
The world is only about 20 years away from reaching maximum capacity and we show no signs of slowing the population growth.
The ozone layer is being attacked from within and from without.
Soon (should we make it 50 years down the road) or over the coming decades there will be such a proliferation of gamma rays that we will not be able to step out into the daylight without wearing something close to a spacesuit.
Not to mention the dramtic reduction in food production capabilities.
Between over breeding, distruction of farm land, forested areas and other natural habitats that keep our ecosystem limping along, all our forms of polution, our general stupidity in engaging in wars and other forms of violent human conflict, our lustful greed, the desire of the few to hord for themselves while others starve or freeze or parish from the total lack of concern from their fellow man I have grave doubts about the survival of our race.
In truth, thus far and of late most especially, we have proven ourselves unfit to be entrusted with a planet so beautiful as this.
What is the answer you may ask?
It seems rather simple to me.
No amount of science or gadgetry is needed to solve this problem.
If only we, each one of us, would simply, could simply choose to take less and give more.
Stop the glutonous consumption of our planet and actually nurture it.
Give more to it than we take.
The solutions to all the worlds problems (food, energy, peace) have already been found.
If we would only apply them.
You may say what about disease?
Disease is caused primarily by our food comption and our choise of energy sources.
You would be amazed how many cancers would fall out of existance by changing these two aspects of our lives.
The question is will we?
That remains to be seen.
Do I have hope?
Yes.
At the very core of human nature is hope.
You will find it there right next to it's twin, love.
From those two things spring faith.
Not religious faith but faith in ourselves as living beings that if we only try we can succeed in making our lives peaceful and fullfilling.
I could go on with how I would like to see things change but I won't.
I will leave you with this. . .
The first step of change begins with you. . .
and me. . .
and each one of us doing something, just one thing everyday, to stop this madness swirling around in our world.
That first thing might just be loving yourself.
So that you may then understand what it is to love another living thing.
Truly loving it.
Or simply realizing it has thre right to exist unfeterred by you.

Well you mean besides having to worry about all of the Government NWO, (New World Order) stuff? Um , in 50 years I hope and pray I am long gone, and my children and grandchildren live in a little tiny Safe Island, somewhere where their not effected by all of "Whats to come!!" And are no longer citizen's of America !!! My greatest concern's are for my children's & grandchildren's future's!!! For me, I can deal with just about anything, until its my time, you know.... I dont think its going to be a "Pretty Place" to live for anyone, and or safe, just about anywhere, either!!! Especially after I saw that EX-Government Official's video, 10 years ago!!! I hope & pray my children & grandchildren will be living in another country, and or an Island of their own !!! Like, Jackie O did, for her children, when JFK died...... Its all to sad, and way too scary to think about or even imagine what things will be like especially in America!!! But for today , you have a Beautiful Day, and enjoy today for today, hun!!! Smile!!!!

As an optimist, I see the fruits of our labor to use alternative technologies to provide the stable economy and environment to allow us to continue as a civilization. All of this new creative endeavor has limited the amount of hatred fueled by our endless quest for fossil fuel sources and allowed us to coexist in a world based on surviving as the most advanced species on the planet.
Keep your fingers crossed.

We are at a turning point in history. We can either get along and use our resources wisely, or we can be greedy and kill each other for everything and every reason. I hope all will work out, but it may not with the way we are going.

We will be traveling out into space as a race, but we will not be ready for space travel, other than astronauts, yet. Now in the next 200 years the rich will be able to vacation on the moon. LOL

To be quite frank, there will be [probably] so much chaos in the future. Although, be being a Christian and all, I think Jesus will be here by then. Therefore, I won't have to worry about all that.
