If so what do you do? Since your maiden name is the same as your spouse, there's nothing to change, but was it awkward or refreshing to you to share the same last name as your spouse?

Just curious, always wanted to know if such a scenario exists and to whom, what was it like, etc.

Yes, this happened with my sister-in-law. When they started dating and he brought her home to meet his mom, they said it was weird to tell her what the girl's last name was. No one believed it for a while. Now we all joke that they're 'kin' somewhere down the line and pick on them for inbreeding. It's all in fun, and they're usually the one's to laugh about it and make fun.

My sister-in-law married her husband, and didn't have to change her last name, social security card, etc. She bragged about it for years.

My Great Grandmother married someone with the same last name. It wasn't that big of a deal. It was a common name and it didn't matter much anyway. It is just easier logistically--but once in a while you have someone giving you the "family tree doesn't have many forks in it" look over it. Oh well, I guess since it was my Great Grandmother (who by the way I very close to since she didn't pass away until 2 years ago when I was 28) it was never really anything to wonder about...it just was.

Actually, my sister did. They've been married since 1979 I think. it's always been an amusing story in our family. I'm sure it's VERY convenient re: not having to do the name change thing. I've been married twice and took back my maiden name in between marriages so I've changed mine 3x. It's a PAIN!

No, but I dated a guy way back when I was in high school with the same last name and always thought it would be neat if we got married. He actually had my dad's first name too. That would have been really weird. I think people would've talked..lol

I know a girl with the last name of Williams who married a guy with the same last name. I would think it would be more convenient since you wouldn't have to pay and do all the legal stuff to change your name.

I'm dating a guy that has the same last name as mine - which is Brown. Since Brown is very common, I made sure that we wasn't related but I do feel kinda of weird about it.

I didn't but, my one of my classmates married someone with the same last name. Both of their last names were Jones. Not to mention, they're divorced now. Having the same last night should have made things easier for her.

I didn't myself but my grandmother did. Her maiden name was Martha Wharton Jones. That continued to be her name after she married my grandfather, William Augustus Jones. Caused my father a lot of trouble when he was in the service and they kept trying to get his mother's maiden name from him.

My boss married a man with the same last name as hers. All she had to do was change her filing status on her taxes withholding. It must have been great, I hated dealing with DMV, SS and all the other stuff to legally change me name.

You want to hear weird. Our Cousin's name is Sue and her husband is Rich, well he is a Jr so his dad's name is aslo rich and his mom's name is SUE. Ick!

I knew a lady who married a man whose last name was the same as her first - her name is now Kristi Kristy. Worst name I ever heard, Tammy Tinkle - I would've kept my maiden name!
