Playing helps to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world in which we live, it helps with their overall physical development and helps to develop their motor skills (fine and gross.) Playing with other children helps with character building, it teaches how to interact with others and teaches sharing and turn taking. Children copy what they see so a good role model is essential. Also children should not be type cast ie/ boys play with footballs and toy cars while girls play with dolls and home corner activities. All children should be given equal opportunities to attempt all games and activities.

Playing helps children develop social skills that will help them later in life. Such as how to get along and problem solving. When children role play they are acting out life situations and this helps them work out any fears that they may have and it helps them to understand the way people work together. By stack items on top of each other they learn that the big object needs to go on the bottom or it will fall.

Wow...its important for a LOT of reasons. #1 it helps them with communication and verbal skills. When interacting with other children they learn the means to talk socially and interactively. This helps their social skills and prepares for society in the future. #2 when the run and play it helps their muscles and skeleton to develope and grow. Astronauts who spend extended time in space have to be carried off space ships because their leg muscles haven't been used in so long, they have become week. Children running and playing makes their bones tougher, and their muscles stronger. #3 it helps them learn to share. When playing teaparty or tag, or whatever it is, they learn not only to interact with others but they also learn how to share things that they have in common. If one boy has a ball, and he is playing with another student they share the ball. It helps them and teaches them vital skills that they will need in the future. I'm sure there are other reasons too, but those three right there should be a good start. Good luck, and I'm glad I was even able to "Share" them with you.

Children learn through play so it is good if they have a good role model to teach them. Children go through different types of play while they are developing. Younger children play on their own. When they get a bit older they play alongside other children. Then older children play together, Children need to have different experiences of play. Indoor , outdoor. physical play, role play, imaginative play, constructive play and messy play. There is lots of different play and each time a child plays they are learning.

It is important because it helps stimulate the brain in all aspects. It also helps the child develop psycho-motor skills from physical activity, (logic) problem solving, and even falling. Psychomotor skills involve: nonlocomotor skills and locomotor skills. Nonlocomotor skills are for example pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, balance, etc.Psychomotor skills are for example walking, running and hopping. These activities activate and condition the nervous system which is little by little becoming conditioned by the childs play.

Lots of learning to be done in playing! For the very young it teaches social skills regarding interaction, sharing/being "team" not just individual, communication in various forms, etc.
It introduces them to the world beyond the living room and family and close friends.

Because it helps them to learn to interact with other people so that when they get older they arent outcasted or shy or feel like their alone, plus its a great way for them to learn new things. And its something they like to do, what kid doesnt want to play, i mean im 16 and i still want to play playing with friends when i was younger were the best days of my life.

they're children...its what they do! Seriously, children learn through play. They discover the world around them whilst having fun - the easiest way to learn. They develop their motor skills, observation, inter-personal skills etc which prepares them for more formal learning.
