Not funny - because it is one of Winston Churchill's many many put downs.... basically a female councillor said to him " if you were my husband I would give you poison in your coffee " to which the great man replied " Madam, if you were my wife - I would drink it ".

pdkflyguy is right. I thought I recognised this. Winston Churchill said it to Lady Astor. One of the best retorts in history, especially if people are still having a chuckle over it to this day

I like that one, try these .....I'm on a whiskey diet..I've lost 4 days already! I've always been unlucky..as a kid I was given a rocking horse, and it died!
