Very scared having 2 teeth out.

Really nervous of the Injections. Will they really sting ?

Can Mum stay with me ? Really want her there - for the Injections.

it's OK to be a scared . We are most of the time (some of us are ) of going into the dentist . First thing is the injection . It's OK the will but some jell on you gum then it's meant to help you not feel as much pain . And you will find a little bit . Of just a sec . But if the room is big yes your mum will be able to be next to you . But if you tell your dentist that you are scared the will give you a little bit of the injection now and take it out and give you a break . You can get up if you want . And you will have to get a little bit more bit you will not find anything at all next time . But your dentist will make you feel happy . if the know you are scared . And if the are a mum all the better . The know all about it . And there is only one injection . And your dentist will make a few jokes . To make you feel happy . And keep checking up on you if you are ok .

Usually the rub something on your gums before they give the injection. It does sting a little (the actual injection), but it really isn't bad and doesn't hurt for long at all. I just had work done this summer and my Mom was there for the whole thing. I don't know if it works like that at all places, but they had no problem at all with her being there. My son was even there for one of the appointments.
A long time ago I had a tooth pulled. I was terrified of the injection, i had never had it before...I cried and made the biggest fuss, then they did it and I felt so silly...it was like "oh, that wasn't actually a big deal at all."
I agree with the answer before mine...the worst part is the numbness...it's very strange.

Don't fear, it does not hurt at all, it's the fear that makes it hurt more. First they numb the area with a topical gel so you don't feel it.

But even if they didn't do this it's not bad at all, I had 4 shots and felt nothing. Just pinch your arm, at the worst that's about all it is...again it's your perception of getting a needle that makes it hurt more, it's all mental.

You can also pinch your arm or leg as they do it and that will take any pain you might feel away as your attention will be on the arm your pinching.

There is a good chance someone can be in the room with you if you want. Don't worry, the hardest thing is trying to keep food out of the extraction sites:-) I have had 2 teeth out and getting 2 more out, had no pain at all during or even after the extraction, 99% of all extractions are not bad all, very little pain at all, nothing at all like a toothache that keeps you up at night:-(

Just have faith and believe all will be fine and it will be over before you know it.

God Bless.

It's not the most painful thing I've ever had done, but it's certainly not a nice feeling either. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate it at about a 5. Remember, the injection pain is brief & then you won't feel a thing. Besides, you wouldn't want to go through the pain of dental work without the shots!

I'm sure your Mum can stay with you. just be sure to convey your wishes to her and the doc.

Good luck!

It hurts about as much as having a needle hurts. It kind of feels like a sharp pinch. Really there isn't too much pain. Just relax and breathe deeply. Tell your dentist you are nervous and s/he will try to do the injection as smoothly as possible. I find the worst part is the funny feeling of numbness when your mouth is frozen. It doesn't hurt - it just feels numb.

i haddent been to the dentist for years as people really like to scare you with their horror stories, in the end i had to go because i was in absolute agony. Yes, the injections stung but it really wasworth it in the long run, i now have a great set of knashers that people comment on how white and straight they are, just bite the bullet and go, it really isnt that bad and the pain is gone as soon as your out of that chair.
i took my friend with me when i went, so i`m sure you`ll be able to have your mum with you if your that worried.
good luck,
you`ll be glad when you`ve gone and got sorted.

When I went to my dentist he was really good about making me comfortable. He smeared so much novacaine paste on my gums I didn't even know he gave me the shot. Keep your head up.

It doesn't hurt bad. It's just a little pinch and then your tongue and mouth will go numb. You'll feel like your lip sticks out a mile. Good luck!
