I wish I lived in Cate's world... my last trip for food/toys/snacks was $140.00 for two small dogs and three cats. And that's a trip made every 3 weeks. Sheesh... that $460/yr looks really out of range for Los Angeles anyway.
My vet charges $30 to walk in the door, then you'll pay for vaccinations, medications, etc.
Count on $100 per trip to be safe. That way if your dog is injected with vitamins or an antibiotic you'll be covered. When my dog was having loose stools my vet gave her a vitamin shot, gave me 2 prescriptions - one antibiotic, one antidiahreal - and sent a sample to the lab. I think that trip cost $120.
Good luck!

It varies depending where you live and the size of the dog.
I don't know if you already have a vet you take your dog to or you are looking for any vet, or a potential vet to establish a relationship. But you can call around to different locations to get an estimate for the walk in the door/exam. Based on that fee you might want to bring about $100-200 on top of that just to be sure.
One thing I know about my vet (I don't know if all vets do this), but when they do a check up on the dog they then go into what the potential problem might be and the treatment for it, during this time you can inquire about cost for the teatment as well as the options for the treatment.
For my vet visit they charge me $40 to walk in the door and then on top of that they charge for meds, vaccinations, and whatever else care is needed. I went to get a check up and a vaccination last week and that cost me $70.00. I know it probably is expensive, but where they're located @ and do business it's resonably priced.
I definately wished I lived in Cate's world. $420 is not the amount I pay for my dog per year for that stuff. Mines range way higher than that for food, vet cost (including emergency visit cost me $300), licensing, and toys (omg I spend 40 a week and I'm even lucky if they last a few hours). Wow lucky..whoever pays for that

It really depends on the area and what is done to the dog. In rural Oklahoma the vets around here dont charge fees just to look at them and they just charge for what meds and services they do. But in the bigger cities you are charged anywhere from 30-70 dollars just to bring them in. And once your there they will probably do a fecal to make sure there arent any worms and then bloodwork. Has your puppy had shots. If not it could be parvo and they have a test for that and then if it does it will have to be hospitalized and treated which can be very expensive. But dont wait any longer than necessary because the longer you wait the more expensive it tends to get because they get worse. Good luck

I got my dog from the shelter and the shelter told me that some vets give free first visits for animals from the shelter as long as you bring some kind of proof and they do a check up and if there is something wrong you can ask them or they'll tell you.
It's better to call around and ask, but sometimes even though the price is low the vet is very unknowledgable (i've experienced that). THey charge $40 for just coming in with a problem to be checked and then another charge for doing what ever is needed(like my dog had a ear infection they had to clean it with ear solution ..........) and then there is another cost for medicine or what ever your dog needs. I never escaped about $110 plus (rarely less) for going in when my dog had a problem unless it was just a check up.

That really depends on what the vet finds. Most visits around here (Pa) cost 45.00 and additional for meds, x-rays etc. You should discuss this with the vet. Its okay to call and ask the cost of a basic visit.

The cost depend on where you live and will vary from vet to vet as well. Call around and check prices. since your pup is throwing it up-it could be anything from parasites to parvo virus. Puppies are susceptible to dehydration-so act quickly.
To help stop the dehydration-remove his food AND water. A lot of times dogs after they vomit will load up on water and throw it back up-dehydrating him more quickly.

It will depend on where you live, what type of tests the vet does, medications the dog has to be on , etc. I would figure $100-$150 to start. It might be less.

It really depends on the vet and what area you are in.
Around here you are looking at between $40-60 just for a consult.

just to walk in and let them look at her will be around $50... blood work and any tests or treatments could get up to $500 depending on whats wrong with her. I hope you knew this kind of expense would come along when you adopted her, and can afford it.
