Hi guys, my friend recently underwent a physical and the side of his neck, where the vein is, was hard, and the nurse asked him if eats a lot of fried food? He doesn't and was just wondering what it could be? I heard clogged artery, if so, is that bad, what should he do?

First of all he needs to see his regular Dr. and also he needs to have an ultra sound done on his neck so they can tell if it really is blocked. My grandma had this test done and there was nothing to it. It took like 15 or 20 minutes. Just be sure your friend sees a Dr.

atherosclerosis in the carotid artery is not good, however you cant feel it by touching the neck.
mass on the side of neck would most likely be a lymph node.

You would think if it was something serious she would have referred him to a doctor. If I were him I would see a doctor and have it checked just so he knows and doesn't have to worry.
