I went to the vet today because my kitty is sick and hasnt eaten in a while. She told me to give him a half a cup of milk and some egg yolk for protien. I was wondering if anyone else has tried this, and if so, did it help in making your kitty feel better?

Your vet should have a cat food called a/d made by Hill's. It is a very palatable and high calorie food that is often well-received by cats who are ill and won't eat any other food. Milk and egg yolk are good and they do not contain taurine which is necessary for your cat's health. There is taurine in the a/d.
If you open a can of a/d feed her as much as she will take at one time from your finger. Put the rest of the can into a pyrex dish to save for future feeding. It does not have to be refrigerated if you use in up in one day. If there is some left overnight put that in the fridge and then warm it to room temperature in a warm water bath.

No, it probably isn't nutritionally good for them, because it lacks a lot of the essential protein and nutrients they get from their cat food. However, if a cat is sick and won't eat otherwise, the goal is to get something, any thing into them so they get some calories into their system to keep them going until they can be put back on their regular food. You can also try really smelly food like the smelliest can food you can find, tuna fish or sardines, because if the cat's nose is clogged, it won't smell its food and won't eat. Another thing to try is running the hot water in the bathtub without the bath room fan on, closing the door, and after a few minutes when the bathroom is steamed up like a sauna, put the cat in the bathroom. The steaminess may help clear its sinuses and let it smell long enough to eat.
As far as the milk, Whiskas makes a cat milk product that is milk without the lactose. This would prevent lactose intolerant issues; because if the milk gives your cat diahrrea, it will only get more dehydrated.

Wow strange the vet suggested milk as that usually gives cats diarrhea. When my cat was unwell the vet told me to feed him chicken and rice, or buy "Hills prescription diet feline i/d" which is a special food for sick kitties. (Sorry I can't comment on milk/egg mix as I've never tried it.)

I'm surprised the vet suggested milk. It usually gives them diarrhea. I would try to milk specially formulated for cats, like someone previously suggested.
Oh, you may want to consider switching vets. I can't imagine a reputable Dr. suggesting that.

Cat food has plenty of protein in it.
I wouldn't suggest giving your cat any cow's milk, as most cats are lactose intolerant as adults.
Maybe get a second opinion from another vet?

Try giving kitty just a bit of canned tuna, that may get her interested and encourage her to eat a bit. Raw egg isn't a good idea, it's not good for people - why give it to your sick "baby"? Maybe a little scrambled egg, slip a bit of tuna into it...good luck, it's no fun when kitty gets sick!!
