It looks like its die hard Republicans that are trying to play partisan poitics with this, based on the answers.

It looks like there are still a few who think this is about fighting terrorists.

There seems to be a lot of skepticism. Some who are for it seem to already be blaming the "Democrats" for it failing. I think these people are too partisan to believe.

Work for who? And what is Bush's real agenda? I think his plan will work in further enflaming the region and making sure he and his friends either get the oil or make sure no one else does so they can sell their own reserves. Either way they will control the supply and what with that and the arms trade Bush will walk out of this a lot richer and more powerful - he's a true American capitalist.

If it does you`ll never hear about it in the liberal press. The agenda is to elect Democrats not win a war. The worst thing that can happen for the Left is America actually winning because that is a good thing for Republicans.
If we don`t win this war in 3 to 5 years we will be in a world war. The last World war cost the lives of 3400 a day. Every young man that posted on this page will be drafted as we fight for our Lives and way of life.
Bin Laden said,"Once we win in Iraq the world is an open field for us."

I hope so! But then again, hold on to hope when there is no other option! I'm afraid the 20,000 may just be replacing the number of wounded soldiers that've come home. And it's been said before that we didn't have enuf to keep the peace but just be occupiers. I really HOPE that's wrong! For the sake of our soldiers I hope President Bush will be RIGHT! PRAY for our military men. Every time you are reminded or see one in town, say a silent prayer for our servicemen & others out there working for peace. And others living in unrest....

I strongly agree with chuckles. I am in the military and the common consensus is to let them do their job.... period.

We need support keeping out Syria and Iran, the UN could have helped with this years ago....

While there are problems over there, we as a military has done a great job.... with over 3,000 kiled it is sad but pretty incredible stats for invading and occupying another country for 4+ years.

It is sad this has become a Republican and Democrat issue.... Democrats are giddy this is not going well.... helps their elections..

If the military gets a green light to do their job and we can get Iran and Syria to get on board then yes it will work...

God help us all if it does not..... Islamic extremism is not going away

If Bush's plan is to keep throwing soldiers into the country and hope a stable government and country will come out of it, then no.

Although it might not be a good idea to pull all the soldiers out all at once, there does not appear to be any timeline or deadline for the Iraqi government to take control of the country. The Dems are not happy, and even the GOP has a mixed reaction to it.

As one military official put it, a surge of soldiers is not what Iraq needs.

Bush's Presidency is on the line here, so he better be praying that it works. Personally i think its nothing more than putting a band aid on a gaping wound and hoping it will work. We need 40,000 more troops deployed, not 20,000. What's really sad is that Bush is a miseralbe failure when it comes to foreign policy and that scares me. For instance why isn't he engaging Iran and Syria in talks?

I'm not sure if it will work, but I don't think it can hurt.

The more pressure we can put on the terrorists and the more we can train the Iraqi army the better off the Iraqis will be when our army leaves.

NO ! ! ! Has any of his tactics ever worked? He has killed off more of our innocent troops since we been over there than in the whole 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001. Is it really worth it?

I hope it does for the security of the world.let's remove the restraints our military is forced to adhere to so they can do their job properly.
