Limewire is not illegal, using it to download copywritten media is.

Limewire is technically only illegal when you are taking files that you do not already own. It is meant to be a place for "Backups" so lets say I own a cd. I could legally download them due to the fact I own the copyrights for personal use of that cd. But lets say I just download a bunch of random stuff technically it is illegal.

no. limewire is NOT illegal. it IS illegal to share copyrighted material with someone else using limewire.

Peer 2 Peer applications are legal, what you download from it may be illegal. You are only legally allowed to download files that you have a right to

paid for or not, all versions are capable of downloading viruses, all versions are legal.

downloading a song/movie that you do not own or have not paid for is illegal.

theres plenty of legal stuff limewire can download.

No. But the act of downloading/exchanging of files that are copywright protected is illegal as you don't have the proper license to use them.

Lime is a kiddie program which helps exchange illegal files and music and is very often virus ridden

Use of the program in itself is not. What you download with it might be. i.e. the majority of the music etc.
