Does anyone know of any good cookbooks that I can order online from Amazon, or go to Borders, Barners & Noble, or etc.

I am looking for Healthy, Low-Carb, Pakistani, Meditteranean, etc.
Although not all together of course. Thanks for your help!!

I like Alton Brown's cookbooks, because, while it does contain a great assortment of recipes, it focuses on teaching you to cook, rather than to replicate recipes. Learning to cook means knowing what to do when you are out of one ingredient, or if one fish looks better than another, how to get a different texutre, what sauces make good substitutes, etc...

My favorite is The Gourmet Cookbook, edited by Ruth Reichl. It's a compilation of more than 1000 recipes with absolutely anything you could think of--desserts, appetizers, meat dishes, vegetable dishes, breads, side dishes, and even a wedding cake! All of the recipes I've tried from it are amazing. It has lots of non-Western dishes, and they're very healthy and palate-pleasing. I got mine on sale at Borders for under $15! It's even less if you get the coupons as a Borders Rewards member, which is free to sign up for.

Best of luck!

The Mediterranean Beautiful Cookbook
The whole line of Beautiful Cookbooks is fabulous. I especially love this one & the Gulf Coast one. Hard cover. This could be a coffee table book. I also collect Southern Living Cookbooks. Very good eating around here.

Joyce Goldstein's 'Mediterranean Kitchen' & 'Back to Square One' are both excellent books. We used them regularly at our restaurant in Berkeley, CA. Square One was the name of Joyce's restaurant in S.F.
