He’s a hook-up buddy, but I have often wondered how two people can click in the bedroom but not outside the bedroom.

well you obviously have sex in common. it is possible b/c our bedroom personalities and what we do between the sheets does not solely depend on anything outside there.
you can have the chemistry, but if nothing else appears to mesh well together eventually the chemistry will fizzle out. my guess is part of the chemisty is b/c it's new..

It's possible because "chemistry" is just your biological self working hard to reproduce without any regard to what is best for you emotionally, mentally, spiritually, socially or any other way. Your body (and your partner's) just want to pass on the genetic code (ie. make a baby). You brain can override this, but it's not as much fun - just be safe and if you don't want to procreate just yet, make sure you use birth control!

oh god it is entirely possible.

do these relationships ever work out? Not usually. If it is kept as a strictly sex level sure. But lets be honest, they never stay like that. Someone gets mad or attached and that messes up the buddy system

Unfortunately yes. I've never heard of one working out though. You have to have more for it to last. Eventually the chemistry will work against you as it comes into conflict with every fiber of your being that tells you that you are with the wrong person.

Particularly if there is enough money involved.

Seriously, it happens. You can be in love with somebody else even.
