Leviticus 11:20... All flying insects that walk on all FOURS are to be detestable to you.
21... There are, however, some winged creatures that walk on all FOURS that you may eat: those that have jounted legs for hopping on the ground.
22... Of these you may eat of any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper.
23... But all other winged creatures that have FOUR legs you are to detest.

Do you really think the Bible should be used as a SCIENCE book?

Since when do insects have four legs?

Before you reply back that crickets and grasshoppers have 4 legs for creeping and 2 more for hopping, I urge you to go watch one walk... they creep on all 6.

OK, maybe we will find some extinct creatures like we will find Giants and Unicorns.

Are you a moron. YOu're the same idiot that thought plant husbandry or whatever proved there was no creation.

Now I want you to think really hard. Which do you think is the case in these 2 options:

1) Whoever wrote the Bible was not only stupid but blind, and could not see that visible insects have more than 4 legs. This despite the fact that he just gave permission to capture and eat them, showing he probably did himself. Also, being that the book is written in Hebrew and the word used is Sheretz, meaning al creapy crawlies, he did not notice that centipedes and scorpions also had more than 4 legs. This despite living in a warm, desertish, environment. Somehow he just never saw an insect or a spider. Also, none of the terrible and deceptive scribes through the ages caught this, having seen insects themselves, and changed it. Not J. Not E. Not P. And not D. Or D the redactor, or any of the other letters assigned to people who were supposed to have taken hundreds of years to have written this section of the Bible.

or

2) It was an idiom in the original language at that time for all multilegged creatures or wild animals.

I looked at the original verse, in Hebrew, and the translation is actually rendered better by KJV:

Lev 11:20 All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.

Ant the dictionary said:
Fowls=(original Hebrew) עוף
‛ôph
ofe
a bird (as covered with feathers, or rather as covering with wings), often collective: - bird, that flieth, flying, fowl.

Another thing you mentioned is 4 legs...
The word is actually four:
ארבּעה ארבּע
'arba‛ 'arbâ‛âh
ar-bah', ar-baw-aw'
The second form is the masculine form; four: - four.

So it is not insects, but animals that fly and creep and have four something - no mention of legs.
You say that they don't have 4 for hopping, 2 for other purposes, but all for crawling... I frankly don't know. Not from MY experience. But I've looked into it and it seems that the two hind legs ARE used for hopping. Here:

One thing you forgot to see, all these creatures or insects, Had to have only 4 feet to creep on or walk on, It does not say anyhing above the feet, just as long below the joints, they have only 4 feet, They can have 20 legs, But no more than 4 feets. there is a difference.

You're looking for scientific accuracy from a book that more than 2000 years old? People back then didn't know the specifics of insects. Are we to disregard Newton and Galileo because they didn't know about atoms?

Go to answersingenesis.org. They will tell you. Also, there may be some insects and winged creatures that were around back then, but are extinct now.

May the peace, blessings and mercy of God be upon you

I am a creationist, but a Muslim

[002.164] Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, and the ships which sail through the sea with that which is of use to mankind, and the water (rain) which God sends down from the sky and makes the earth alive therewith after its death, and the moving (living) creatures of all kinds that He has scattered therein, and in the veering of winds and clouds which are held between the sky and the earth, are indeed Ayât (proofs, evidences, signs, etc.) for people of understanding.

[031:010] He has created the heavens without any pillars that you see, and has set on the earth firm mountains lest it should shake with you. And He has scattered therein moving (living) creatures of all kinds. And We send down water (rain) from the sky, and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein.

[031:011] This is the creation of God. So, show Me that which those (whom you worship) besides Him have created. Nay, the Zâlimûn (polytheists, wrong doers and those who do not believe in the Oneness of God) are in plain error.

[024:045] God has created every moving (living) creature from water. Of them there are some that creep on their bellies, and some that walk on two legs, and some that walk on four. God creates what He wills. Verily, God is Able to do all things.

[024:046] We have indeed sent down (in this Qur'ân) manifest Ayât [proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, lawful and unlawful things, and the set boundaries of Islâmic religion, that make things clear (showing the Right Path of God)]. And God guides whom He wills to a Straight Path (i.e. to God's religion of Islâmic Monotheism).

Peace Be With You

Scientists believe that there are tens of millions of species of insects still yet to be discovered. Chances are we just haven't found the 4-legged little bugger yet. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I would like to know the answer to this too...

I expect the word of God to be perfect. If it's not perfect, then we should all just admit that it was written by a bunch of primitive men many years ago.

I don't know Hebrew but I'm betting English translaters didn't know a better word for what they saw in the original text.
