The weakness question is all about confidence. If a person is confident, it does not mean they do not have weaknesses. It means they know and understand them, and know how to work around them. If they are confident, they know their weakness, when that weakness may play a part in their job, they will ask for help in that area. There is nothing wrong in needing help in certain areas. What they don't want is someone who has a weakness, is too afraid to admit it, not asking for help, and getting bogged down in a situation.

I can tell you right now, I am terrible at anything to do with algebra. Once they started adding letters to math, it went over my head. Granted there isn't much algebra involved in law enforcement, I know that I have that weakness, and if it did arise, I would ask for some help or insight from someone else.

Be careful on the "weakness working for you". I don't want to say it is BS, but they can smell this when you do it. When your weakness is I "sometimes tend to work too hard", then know what you are doing.

Like I said, everyone is weak in some area of life. Knowing it, acknowledging it, and knowing how to work around it is what they are looking for.

I always say that for my weakness I am sometimes a little obsessive with being on time. In my case it really is true. It is a good way to give a weakness, yet turn it into a positive for the department. You don't want them to see it as a weakness. You could also say your a little bit of a neat freak. You get the idea, right? Good luck!!

Here's a good one, like the others said always make your weakness make you look good, but I would never say I work to hard etc, etc ,because when I interview people and I do I hear that all the time. And everyone has faults.Good bad or indifferent. Here's a god one.EXAMPLE: Kinda chuckle a little when saying this.I love to play golf when I'm not at work. I'm trying to work on this because this doesn't always make my girlfriend happy. She even say your weak when it come to golf your weak. So this is a real weakness of mine keeping me off the golf course.

Whatever you say make sure that you accept responsibility for any and all of your actions.
For instance, if you had dropped out of high school but later earned a G.E.D.
Don't make excuses. Just say I dropped out. It was stupid ; I remedied it with my G.E.D. and continued my education.

Asking this question shows you have a weakness in your confidence. We can't tell you what your weakness is because we don't know you.
Is it math?
Is it coffee?
Is it cigarettes?
Do you run when confronted with an emergency?
Do you have a hard time making quick decisions?
Do you make decisions w/o thinking and then regret them?

If you have problems with anger DON'T mention it.
Do you rush to judgement?
Do you harbor personal resentments of other races or religions?
You can't contrive your answer.
Just be honest.
If you don't know then just say you don't know

How about being HUMAN. That's everyone's weakness.
Expecting perfection etc...

Oooooo...you'll get asked more than that buddy. Think before answering but don't take too long. Stumble and have a hard time articulating and I usually wash guys like that right out of the chute.
This job isn't all TV crap. If you think its all excitement and you're like these chooches that say "I want to be a detecive' then sayanora. Don't need you here. So good luck, look sharp....wear a suit and tie...not a sport coat and be confident.

if you are asked just tell them-they want you to be straight with them. Now, if they should ask you how you feel about having to carry a gun(it obivious you have) tell them ya know this goes along with the job requirement so you are willing to carry it, and should they ask if you would ever shoot someone tewll them if you were certain your life was in danger/threatened and you had no choice. Dont do like some I have questioned for hiring and are way too willing and very happy to be carrying a gun, as 9 out of 10 that will not get you hired.

It's always good to state that your weakness is actually somethine positive. Something like "I have a hard time letting go of something if it isn't finished" or "I sometimes get too focused on the details." Basically anything that sounds like you work too hard.

Go with the "good weakness" - I push myself to acheive perfection, or I have a hard time letting myself accept an unfinished job.

Make your weakness work for you,

That you have weakness of character and have difficulty making decisions and moral conviction prevents you from taking a life in defense of yourself or others,
