and marriage and love are completely unrelated, son. there are still arranged marriages all over the world.

Yes , with one thing or another . Many times with another person .
It's not just "arranged" marriages that do not involve love .Many times people marry for love only to find out their mate was in love with themselves .

Looking at this as a linguistic question. ;) We don't "fall" in love we "become" in love.

And, no, love is not necessary for a marriage to take place.
