Do you know how to tease your hair like in the 80's? exact same thing. Hold the hair up straight and with a comb that the teeth are close together go up and down near the root 5-10 times should be enough. Then smooth the top out by rubbing side of comb over it.

Backcombing is the same as teasing your hair. Usually when someone does this they want more volume on the top crown area. What you do is take a comb and section the top crown area ( on the top of your head towards the back) into a V. While you are holding that section of hair take the comb and from the UNDERNEATH of the section, about 1/2 inch up AWAY from the roots you will take the comb and comb down 3 times towards the roots. The more volume you want, the more you will backcomb. Then let your hair down. Carefully take your comb and smooth the top layer of your hair into place and spray with hairspray. This will give you the added volume.
