Do you mean emote? no!

Considering the portion of the brain that is responsible for emotion is the brain stem, which is morphologically identical in all mammals and nearly identical in avians and very similar in reptiles, it's very likely that some reptiles would at the very least feel aversion/attraction urges (such as mother alligators), and that the more complex the brainstem, the more complex the emotions that can be processed.

It's even possible that there may be emotions possible that we as a species are literally incapable of feeling yet -- wouldn't it be neat to witness a generation develop a whole new emotion?

I have five dogs and I would say yes!!!

Of course they feel pain and they love to have their belly's scratched.

As far as emotions, yes they get jealous of each other, they get happy and excited, they get scared of thunder and gun shots and what to hide, but they feel safe with me, they even have different cries and barks that I can tell that they want me to come and see what's going on or their out of water, they want to sleep right next to me, they want to be with me as much as possible. I say they love me as much as I love them.

I had a cat die when I was young that always slepted in-between the two dogs. The dogs would lay by her grave at night to sleep.
I think they missed her.

Do animals feel what? Pain? Absolutely. Fear? Undoubtedly. Love? Given the way my cats greet me when I come home at night and try to stall me when I leave for work in the morning, clearly. Sadness or loss? Yes. Hungry? Ask my goldfish, who some days fears for his life.

yes, i was once watching something on discovery or animal planet and there was this baby monkey or ape, don't remember which, that had been abandoned and this other female one started hugging it and wouldn't let it go out of it's sight and since it wasn't the origina mother, it couldn't feed it and the baby died of starvation

another time this one baby died and the mother just sat there for awhile alone next to the dead baby

there was alsoo this psych experiment involving the mother of the animal being replaced by like a stuffed animal and whnever the baby was scared, it ran to that thinking it was its mother

animals definitely 'feel', it's just not as developed or complex as human emotion

Animals feel - they feel physically and they feel 'emotionally'...all one has to do is watch some of the filmed footage of female walruses who have had their young perish and view how the entire community of other female walruses rallied and stood atop a frozen cliff wailing in unison at the loss of the baby.

Yes but not to the same degree as humans. They have nerve endings, instincts and brains so they can feel pain and emotion.

Yes, animals feel and are very aware of the feelings/mood/situation of others.

Definitely. Some more than others of course and in varying degrees - just like people now that I think about it.

of course. They know pain. Sorrow. Being lonely. Pleasure. Cats are a perfect example.

Yes. I agree. My dog cries tears when I'm in pain.
