I have no idea.
If you read Derren Brown's new book theres a bit where is says that Derek is a fraud. Derek was going to communicate with spirits said to haunt a pub in Kent. Earlier in the morning, his team went around asking the villagers what they knew about the pub hauntings. They told them about the murder in the pub. Derek, during his reading, picked up on the murder.
However, there was no murder at the pub. The publican had invented the story and spread it around the village to encourage visits to the pub.
