I have a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire (i live in canada) I bought it brand new so I'm the only owner, and there are only 38,000 kilometers on it. Nothing ever went wrong with it. How much do you think I could get for it in a private sale?

Ok, the person that said they are around $10,000 new has obviously NEVER bought a new car. I, also, have a 2003 Sunfire. Mine was $20,000 with every option except the 16 inch rims (I got the 15 inch rims-- not hubcaps/wheelcovers) and the satellite radio. My car has about 35,000miles; and according to KBB, I can currently sell mine for about $8,000-9,000. This amount will differ depending on the condition of the car, the mileage, your location, etc.

the least i would ask for it would be 9,000, i live in US so I don't know if that pricing is different for there, but I had a 2000 pontiac grand prix with 140,000 miles (quite a difference) and sold it for 8000, so you should be able to get MUCH more for your car.

They were only around $10,000 new, so i'd say you could maybe get $4000 if it's in great shape. Remember domestic cars depreciate, if it were a $10,000 toyota or honda it would be $6000. I'd keep it, you already took the hit.

Domestics = buy used
Imported = buy new

you should first find out the blue book value of the car, and then make your price around that. Also you might not want to ask for too much or nobody will buy your car
