It sounds like lymph nodes! Has he been ill recently, even a cold or ear infection? Sometimes they get swollen when a child is ill and can be swollen for quite a while. Sometimes you can notice them in odd spots (like the hand) my son had a swollen one on his groin.
It never hurts to take a child in to be checked when you are unsure, especially just before the weekend. You don't want him to get really ill over the weekend and have to wait until monday before he can be seen!
Calm down, there is no reason for freight! You are a very intuned mother if you noticed these small bumps. You are doing a great and I'm sure if you take him in you will find that there is no reason for concern. If he is ill, it could be something as little as an ear infection. Good luck and just remember to take a breath and relax!!!

My younger sister had a couple of them on her neck and one on her finger. Don't worry TOO much about the neck ones. If your son is skinny, it's just swollen lymph nodes that are common. My sister had like 3 and that's all they are. Some though can be in weird places such as your hands or behind your ears. She got two removed, one behind her ear and one from her finger. She's 14 but she's REALLY skinny. So don't worry too much. The ones around his neck will more than likely be the lymph nodes, but maybe the one on the hand will be removed, not because it causes a threat but because it just shouldn't be there :) Don't worry.

Your son could be getting a cold. My daughter had lumps in weird places and it turned out to be lymph nodes. I guess they are EVERYWHERE. I thought they were just under the arms and on the throat. I was wrong. Her lumps were frozen pea sized and I thought it was something really bad. Luckily, I had a nice Dr. who said she is fine and told me what it was. If it gets red or grows it definitely needs checked.

I would take him to the doctor for a real diagnosis. It could be a number of things but they would all be guesses without seeing the lumps. Go to a professional and get a professional opinion.

Could be a swollen lymph node or gland. Fairly frequent. Always worth a look.

I am not sure if it is the same thing, but my 17 yr old boyfriend had one on his neck. It went away by itself after a couple weeks.
