I have naturally strawberry blonde hair. I recently dyed my hair a light brown. I like the way it looks, and the more it washes out the more its turning an auburn. However I'm worried how its going to look in a few months when my roots start to grow in. I don't really want to continue to go dark. What should I do? I'm worried what will happen if I just try to dye my already dyed hair a lighter color.

A vitamin C treatment may neutralize the color so that you are able to get it to the color you wish without it causing damage to your hair. I had the same problem and tried to counteract it with an ash. As it turned out...all I needed was the vitamin C treatment and that brought it to exactly the color I wished for.

A company, called roux, has "washes" for hair. They are supposed to help keep the colour in. You could also try certian salon supply stores, where they should have a shampoo to help keep in the colour. Also, if you do not want to keep on re-dying all of your hair, I'm preyty sure its clairol that has the roots touch up kit. I've used it, and it's pretty good. Or,you can just go to a salon and have them bleach your hair a tad bit to try to get it closest to your natural hair colour, and maybe dye it to the closest shade. That way, when it grows in, and you want to keep it, it will blend with your natural colour.

I have colored my own hair off and on for years...but I can tell you the best and safest thing to do is to go to a salon and let someone there guide you in color and do it for you...'cause if you make a mistake, it will LOOK like a mistake...
