Seems like a pretty important issue to me. But some say it's the grave/unconsciousness and some say it's burning torture. Seems like the bible should be more clear on this.

The bible teaches that "hell" is *NOT* a fiery place of torment, but is actually the common grave of mankind.

There is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.

(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all

(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]

(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

Well speaking as a Christian and from personal experience...

I've never been there, I don't know anyone who has, but I do know some that will eventually end up there. I cannot explain what Hell is, where Hell is, or the rest, but I can say with definite surety that there is a Hell and it's an about face in terms of what Heaven will be to me when I move on. Hell is a place where I don't want to end up, it's a place to avoid.

Hell has been described in the Bible several times in different ways. All I can think of is, imagine the most painful prolonged wretched existence and add putrescence, had, and anger to it...times that by about a million and there you have hell...Hell may be different for each of us. We may make our own hell on earth as well. Some people draw hatred and negativity toward them on purpose, they are definitely making hell on earth for themselves and those around them.

Steve, it sounds like you're full of petty questionable actions on behalf of christians... don't you have anything else better to do? Truth is that christians are still people not robots. We don't automatically programed by some software that causes us to say... Yes, Jesus is real. Although some christians might act humanless or sin free.... truth is that NOONE is sin free and no one is free from making errors in interpreting scripture. Yes, I too have noticed that some God believers will run from a conversation based on Satan or Hell but what can you do? Not much so just move on and get over it. If you're so interested in knowing what christians can't seem to answer correctly... then you research it.

Are the memories contained in the Bible genuine? maximum, yet some will be allegorical. you could purely study them and glean what you could from them. all of us favor to comprehend the historic context of the Bible to have a much better information of those memories. the international turned right into a distinct position on the instant so historic information is useful. Why is Christianity precise? you should discover that out for your self. Is the Bible meant to be taken actually? less than no circumstances. To take from it that that's purely meant to be taken actually is to push aside the literature of the books that make up the Bible. there is which skill on numerous levels once you study the verses. Do miracles exist? honestly. Our faith determines the miracles we see. Is there loose will? You tell me. Is everybody in administration of you except you? No there is not, so definite, we've company. Our lives are literally not predestined.

Hell and death. There are different places people go when they die. Some go to a waterless, fiery place. Some go to a place of outer darkness w/gnashing teeth. Some go where the dead are in the sea. Some go where the dead are with the dead (?place of rest). These will stand before God at the last Resurrection, The Great White Throne Judgment. They will be judged according to their works. Those whose names aren't found in the books of life are thrown into the lake of fire, the second death.

Those redeemed by the blood of the Lamb go to heaven and will be part of the 1st Resurrection. Rewards. The second death isn't a threat to them.

the reason hell is argued about is that it NOT defined in the bible.

over time the leaders of the religions have added various enhancements to improver the impact on the followers. the "improvements" in the books were included during one of the copy / translations, well after the lifetime of the man called Jesus

when Constantine declared Christianity, the religion of the roman empire, he created a commission to resolve the apparent confusion over what was the word of god.

this was done by having them choose books that outline and re-enforce what they felt was the word of god. the committee excluded, "banned" dozens of books. it is note worthy that some of these are now found in several other religions primary books.

so what you have is the word of "god" as accepted by the committee of a few and approved by Constantine.

as for me, well when your dead, your dead. dying is really the loss of consciousness., permanently. depending on how we pass away, it is just the same as going to sleep. nothing more, nothing less. if something of us continues, it is not what wishful thinking mammals conjure up as a new reality.

It seems to me like people believe what they want to believe....
I think the old vision of Hell was 'burning torture', but now people prefer to modify it so it's not as harsh...maybe because more people are sinning than 10-20 years ago, and they don't want to face that?

I honestly don't believe in Hell...what god, if he really is worthy of people's worship, would punish humans for following human nature, anyway?

The Bible is actually not unclear about this at all. Hellfire torture is something that was made up by man. There is a very good explanation of what happens when we die on www.watchtower.org.

The Bible describes Hell very vaguely because it is not the focus of the message of Christ. Mercy, Peace, Kindness, Salvation. Live for these things, Live for Christ, and you need not give Hell a second thought.
