yes i totally agree the christian faith revolves around fear of punishment if your not a good person, i would rather believe you should do good because you want to not because your looking for a reward in heaven,

I'm not a believer, either, and I went to a convent school during my early years when I was taught by nuns. I was the kid in the class who kept putting up her hand and asking about the Darwin Evolutionary theory and it didn't work with the Bible. That didn't make me popular with the nuns!
But, I think the thing about spiritual beliefs is that everyone should be tolerant of everyone else's - it would certainly stop a lot of wars. So if you don't believe in God, then fine and if you do, then great for you. But neither group should bang away about their beliefs and try to change the other ... tolerance is everything. That is the way to a peaceful life and a calmer world!

What is Suzie Q talking about? What a moron, "if it wasn't for God you would not be here." Love when religious morons say crap like that to people who do not believe in God or question the existence of God, it does not work you religious monkeys. If I do not believe in God or question his existence, then do not quote the bible as it means nothing to me (children's stories), if someone says anything like the question, making a statement like God made you is just irritating.

Funny that. People keep asking me why I don't believe in George W Bush. I've never seen him, heard him, smelt him or tasted him. I've seen versions of him on TV, but they're just John Colshaw. There's no way the American people would have elected a halfwit as president. God's much more believable.

I know. Some people have a hard time understanding how something that is not visible to the naked eye can still be:
-seen using a telescope or microscope
-felt, once it gives you the flu
-heard, once the sound waves reach your ears
-felt, once the wnd blows through your hair
-smelled, when Uncle Jack rips off a big one
Things can be perceived using any of the senses, and what's more, they can be measured, quantified, and studied.
The same cannot be said of God.

It is up to you what you want to believe ok! Look at it like this, if I found a great treasure for the nation I would not keep it buried, I would want other people to see it and enjoy it's beauty. So it is with those who believe in God, they want to share this treasure also. Why not take time and come and see! Try the Alpha Course!

Open a window and take a few deep breaths. It's not worth getting your blood pressure up. Religion has not rational answers. They sell blind faith and try to program you into accepting it.
Shrug ... that's just the way it is.

God...
An excuse to behave like you know better.
A level of control.
A reason not to take control of your own life.
A way to elevate your status.
A way to avoid any unsavoury fear of death.
An excuse to kill people.
A reason to oppress women.
A way of justifying stealing.
All of the above and more.... Yes, God does exist. We created it.
