You can steal the micros**t software or you can download a version of Linux.

FYI: Have you ever noticed that the less people know about what they are doing the more control they want? If that is true, Bill Gates must know nothing about operating systems and a lot about marketing and "salesmanship".

You can't legally. And I question why you're wanting to upgrade to a seven-year-old OS. Get XP Pro or wait a couple of weeks for Vista.
