I'm a young female who has had constant chest pressure for over a week. I had an EKG, xrays, and blood tests that came back fine. I was given pain medication and it hasn't helped. My dr. assures me that something must have pulled in my chest (a muscle). The pain is constantly there, and is more of a presseure than a pain (as if someone is pressing down on my chest). I have tried muscle relaxers, anti-inflamatory meds, heating pads, etc. nothing works. It doesn't specifically occur when moving around or eating, for example, rather, it is there continuously. Is this a muscle that has been pulled? How long will recovery take? Any ideas?

With what all you've given in details I'd be thinking I had pulled a muscle, if it were me.

"Recovery" of pulled muscles takes a while. Be prepared for that and just when you've gotten over the crankiness of having to live with it... you'll realize, "hey, the pain is gone"! Go figure. :-)

I hate to say... if the doctors can't find the cause, we certainly won't be able to here... but...

I've had a similar problem, and I was assured that it was a pulled muscle in my chest. It actually happens once in a while. Mine usually goes away in a week or so... but that's also based on (1) minimizing stress and (2) not making movements that aggravate the area.

Good luck to you.

Ask your dr. if the pain can be produced by stress. I went through the same thing and I took anti-anxiety medication for a couple of weeks and they wenty away.

You say that you have seen a doctor, have you seen a cardiologist? Heart disease is the number one killer of women, we do not present with the same symptoms as men. Women usually present with flu like symptoms, pain that radiates like GI symtoms.
It could be that you have inflammation of the cartlidge of the ribs to the sternum( breast bone), that hurts like a son a gun.
