I've had the same problem my whole life, ive had plenty of girlfriends because they always make the first move. Your problem will probably never just go away especially if your 40. But there are things you can do to help the problem. I've recently been diagnosed with social anxiety. One thing that has always helped me is an anti-anxiety drug like Xanax or Klonopin. I take it before i go out and it seems to helps give me tconfidence and loosens me up letting my true personality comeout. Try going to a counselor, they can teach you different exercises to help you relax. Also make sure when approaching females have a good convo in mind so your more comfortable.

Well, i'm only 18 but i have the same problem. but i do have a solution. BE A MAN! Get over your shyness Nancy! That's the only way to cure it is to just do it...you know...like nike. Works for me, should work for everybody.

1) Consider getting a therapist
2) Find activities and/or hobbies that put you at ease and in a good, calm state of mind.
3) Start meditating and learn to control your breathing
If none of the above work............consider ending it all.

I was really shy when I was little but then I grew out of it. Maybe you should surround yourself more often with female friends. The more you surround yourself with them and interact with them, the less shy you'll become.

I used to have the same problem... the best thing i figured out was to just calm down and just be yourself... you have to let go of the feeling that everyone is looking at you and your gonna say something stupid.... just go out there and be yourself!

Just be yourself and let it happen. Don't be afraid of rejection. Once you do approach someone, it will get easier. But just be yourself and smile :)
