ive been gradually losing weight over the past few months...even over the christmas holidays when everyone else gained weight, i still lost it. ive been trying to steer clear of all fatty foods (pork chops would usually fall under that category if they're fried) so my question is, can i eat pork chops if they are grilled? or would that damage my weight loss progress?

"Pork chops" is pretty broad. Like any meat, some cuts of pork are leaner than others. What you should look for in meat is a small amount of marbling (fat marbled throughout the meat). Fat on the edges is ok, because that's easy to trim away before or after cooking.

Pork loin center chops are quite lean, with very little marbling but some fat around the edges. I buy them from Omaha Steaks, and use them for grilling, or cut into cubes and pan fry with whatever veg I feel like and no added fat. Nutritional info from Tyson foods is linked below.

The key thing to remember about meat, any meat, is portion size. In the US, meat portions are absolutely huge. No one needs a 12oz steak, which at some restaurants is the smallest portion you can get. When I cook, I use a 4-5oz piece of meat (pork loin chop, chicken breast, top sirloin steak) for both myself and my wife. That's about 2oz of meat each. Supplement that with a serving of whole grains and lots of veggies and you have a healthy meal that can be part of any weight loss program.

It is all mind control and portion control. The best milk to drink is skim milk, not fat free. Your body needs to consume so much fat. So skim milk is the best. The cereal to eat in the moring is Special K. The rest of the day is portion control, but a good dinner. What I mean by good dinner...eat fish, chicken (take off the skin and boil, broil or bake your meat. Or you can season your chicken breast (no skin) and rap it in tin foil), steak and pork chops. It is good to get fresh vegetables and steam them. Go buy a steamer, add water in the bottom place your veggies in the dray provided and cover. Lightly salt and butter when done (I Can't Believe It's Butter Light). Go get a chunk (maybe a pound) of lean light salt ham, cut into chunks and add to a salad (use light salad dressings). It is okay to eat your mothers food, but portion control it. Always drink hot tea with hot meals. If you eat your dinner and drink something cold, that fats from your food will not digest properly and stick. So the Japanese and Chinese drink hot teas with their meals. Which is a very good idea and makes sense. After your dinner (do not eat after 7) go for a 30 minute walk every night/evening. Walking is the best excersize. But you need to walk just a little faster than normal and breath properly. It also is okay to tell your sister no if she hands you a snask or buys you goodies. Just simply say no and end of discussion. I also want to add that Crystal Light makes drink packets, the one I use is for metabolizim. It helps speed it up and burn fat. There are other kinds too. Remember, it is positive thinking and mind control. You need to be strong. Also take a multi vitamin a day along with two vitamin c with rose hips. You should take 1000mg a day of vitamin c, so make sure it is 500mg each. Drink plenty of water with lemon. Water is the best and does fill you up if you drink the proper quantity. But remember, you need to eat so portion your meals or servings. Good luck to you.

Of course you can eat pork chops. Just as long as you don't have them too often. I would recommend just having them once or twice a week so as not to scupper you great progress. If you find that they aren't doing your weight loss any good then stop having them! Oh and always have them grilled as grilling releases most of the fat! Good luck x

You can definately eat grilled or broiled pork chops, just cut off the really fatty part (and only have one chop). Congrats on the weight loss and keep up the good work!!

Your weight loss depends on how many calories you consume, not how much fat you consume. You can lose weight eating nothing but chocolate cake, as long as you keep the total calories down.
Calories are energy, and you want energy out less than energy in. It all goes back to physics.

i don't think so. I lost a lot of weight by simply converting all fried foods to grilled and/or baked. There isn't as much fat and bad stuff in it if they are grilled or baked.
