Mexican name?

It seems to me that they could have chosen a name that wasn't being used by so many people already.

"Jesus" in Aramaic (the language he spoke) translates as "Joshua" in English, "Jesus" in Latin (including Spanish and Italian) ... and the name 'Jesus' is given now because those people are mostly Christians, not that Jesus was given a 'common name' ... are all people whose name is 'Christian' Christians now. NO. You're putting the 'cart' (the name Jesus) before the horse (the Christian Savior, the CHRIST, which mean's 'anointed one') ... When Jesus was 'named' in the Bible, there wasn't a 'Mexico' ... the 'father's of Christianity' in Italy (the ROMAN empire) came CENTURIES BEFORE Christopher Columbus (look at THAT 'first name'!) sailed to the New World ... and the 'forming of Mexico' as a country came AFTER that.

Obviously, the "fathers of Christianity" did not "decide" what to name Jesus. I thought everyone knew that. And what makes you think Jesus is a "Mexican name"? The name Jesus was quite common among Jews in that day.
