I currently feed my 2 kittens on James Wellbeing dry food, and Nutro wet food.

They love the broth in the Nutro and lick that up like it's going out of fashion, but are very reluctant to eat the meat and tend to leave it till I have to chuck it away.
I want to feed them a good quality food (no cheap, nasty stuff for my babies) and also want to give them something they like as well. I can't really take the wet food away, as they love having the choice, and they prefer pouches to tins (because of the different texture I think).
What to people recommend?
Thanks

Nature's Menu is a top class food (the pink pouch, 70% meat, no animal derivatives) and they will eat the lot, not only the broth. Hi-Life chicken (50% meat) and Arden Grange kitten (dry) are also good, and not tested harming animals. Almo Nature is great quality organic food too, they offer dry and tinned.
I've tried James Wellbeloved as well, but there is some question of JB having animal tested ingredients, and Burns is a great organic not-tested food. Also Eaglepack and Fromm are great.
The newest premium cat food is Applaws, mine love it! It costs, but it pays, if you know what I mean.
Check out the links!

Be careful of feeding only dry, as the kibbles swell up a lot in the tiny kitten stomach (leave one in water for a couple of hours and you will see!) and cause vomiting and other problems, including blood in the poo, if no wet food is offered.
Try mixing some kibbles of dry with some tinned, mine love that!

Now and then offer tuna with some bottled spring water or boiled chicken pieces (take all bones carefully out, cooked bones splinter and should never be given to pets).

Remember that Iams and Eukanuba (also Hill's and Perfect Fit) are tested on animals, lots of cats and kittens die in cages.
DON'T BUY THEM!
One of the experiments is to feed the cat/dog their food, then slash their legs without anesthetic or anything, and take a chunk of muscle out so that they can analyze it to see if muscular mass has increased by using their own brand food. This so that they can write "New and Improved!" on the package.
Middle ages stuff.
Look out for not tested food. Every time your cat eats these foods another suffers and dies. (video evidence is available, look it up if you like)

Flossie, when you say "tinned" food I suspect you are not in the US so I don't know what quality canned foods are available to you there. The "pouches" are the worst quaity cat food on any market.

I would love to know the ingredients on the label for the James Wellbeing dry food and would appreciate your emailing me about that.

You can go to www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's article titled "Selecting a Good Commercial Pet Food" which will give you some guidelines about what to look for in any food you choose for your cats. Since the UK has the same laws as we have here requiring that pet food labels show EXACTLY what goes into any pet food, learning about reading labels is your best recourse in choosing a quality food.

Mine refuse to eat "chunk" moist food of any kind and we feed them quality things like Nutro, Wellness and other natural foods. Instead of chunks, get the pureed (sp?) kind. Cupid, Vixen and Miracle all love their food when it's been ground up and put into a paste form ~lol~ They lick it from their plates and are quite content. But give them chunks and they lick the juice and leave the meat.

I have 2 cats, one LOVES the dry complete food and very rarely eats the wet food, and the other wouldnt ever consider eating the dry food....i always put a bowl of each down, i think for my cats it's just preference.

You MUST try Tiki Cat Premium Wild Caught Seafood. Every cat that we have recommended our product line to has come back with incredible testimonies. We specialize in finicky cats!

We use real Ahi Tuna and other high quality sea foods which have not been over processed. All ingredients are human grade and all natural with no mystery meat pate. For instance, our Hawaiian Grill Ahi Tuna contains Tuna, Water for Processing, Sun flour oil, Vitamins and Minerals and that's it. The aroma, texture and taste are human friendly, recognizable ingredients.

Cats developed the line. They taught us which portions of each seafood ingredient are most palatable and our testing shows a 80% preferred rate over leading national brands.

I would love you to try it and let me know how the test goes. :)

while they are kittens keep then on dry,James Wellbeing is really gud, wet food is not good it will cause ya lots of problems later on in life, if you keep the dry food down they will eventually eat the dry food and forget about the wet, do it now while they are kittens it will be easier xxxx

I helped my mother run a cattery and can tell you what we've had to do in the past.
To get them used to dry food, we used to mix the wet food/milk in the dry. Eventually, work it to where there is no wet food in the dry. They definitely need the dry cat food as well; as it will help with their teeth.;)
Good luck!

well you could probably get kitten food from a near by pet store. but a healthier solution would be to get regular cat food and douse with warm water to make slightly soggy.good luck!

I used to mash up the meat bits and mix it with dry food. They all love the sauce, so once it mixes with the dry food, they begin to get used to it and love it as well.
